I photographed this griffon vulture today from the terrace of our house overlooking the Carmel national park. I used my 105 mm macro lens, thus the pic is far from perfect. Still I want to share the beauty of this bird, having wingspan of over 2.5 meters.

After being wiped out in the 1950's from the Carmel by secondary poisoning, these scavengers have been reintroduced quite successfully. Most to of these birds are raised in captivity. Note the ID markings on the wings. We see them quite often circling the park, and sometimes our neighbourhood.

Will try to capture these majestic birds again with a more suitable lens...
