This is a rather common hemicryptophyte of the dressert and desert edge in Israel. The flowers are quite showy, about 2 cm in diameter. Those of higher elevations in the Negev bloom in white to deep red. In other areas the flowers are pink, as here. The WS shows the entire plant.
